To search just type in the text you are looking for. All text saerches are not case specific. e.g.
Searching for Words or Phrases
Enter castle to list all items with the word castle in their names or descriptions.
If you enter words separated by spaces then items containing any of the words will be returned, e.g entering ''christmas robin'' will display items containing ''christmas'' or ''robin''.
If you want search for a phrase then enclose it in quotes, e.g. "christmas robin" will search for items using the whole phrase ''christmas robins''.
Using Keywords
To narrow down the items you are searching for you can enter any number or combination of the following keywords. Each keyword is followed by a colon (:) and the value. More than one value can be entered separated by a comma. Keywords available include:

| year | Items from a single or range of years |
| value | Items with a specific value |
| valuen | Items with a specific numeric value or within a range of values |
| type | Definitive, Special or Regional stamps |
| region | Regional stamps from Wales, Scotland and so on |
| reign | Items issued in a particular reign |
| printer | Items printed by a particular printer |
| process | Items printed using a particular process |
| gum | Items printed with a particluar gum backing |
| contrib | Items contributed by a specific user |
| tag | Items or Issues tagged with specific type |
By combining keywords and/or text phrases you can quickly build specific and complex queries to identify the items you would like to see.
kind:'type'
Displays the different types of items that can be collected such as presentation packs and miniature sheets. You can combine as many of these as you want.

year:'year'
Displays items issued in a specific year. If you enter a year less than 10 it will be year 2000-2010. If you enter a year between 11 and 99 it will be a year 1911-1999.
A range of years can be used by separating them with a dash, e.g. 39-45 or 1998-2002. You can omit the from or to year in the range and the search will display items up to or from the specific year.

value:'value'
Displays items of the specified value
Values can use pre-decimal and decimal notation, e.g 10p, 1s, 1s6d, �10. All values are converted to pence.
A range of values can be used by separating them with a dash, e.g. 2p-9p, 1s-1s6d
You can omit the from or to value in the range and the search will display items up to or greater than the specified value.
