Stamp Classics
The Royal Philatelic Society is the oldest such society in the world. It was formed in April 1869. The future King George V became its patron in 1896, and later granted permission to the use the Royal Arms. The Gruffalo
2019 is the 20th anniversary of The Gruffalo, a 1999 children’s picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. The six 2019 Christmas stamps depict scenes from the Biblical story of the Nativity from the Annunciation, the journey of the Magi and the birth of Jesus Christ. They are created by the talented duo and paper-cut artists Hari & Deepti. Based on a fusion of intricate paper-art and lighting, their work brings to life the magical story of Christmas with imaginative story-telling.
